FAQs

Have any questions?

Do you still have questions regarding our link change monitor? Below are some of the most commonly asked questions.

Links are a very important part of SEO, which help Google estimate the quality of a page. Because of this it can be bad to lose a link, if it is a particularly valuable link.

Looking through our lost links section can however help you with that. If you click on the arrow to the left of the lost link, you can see what specific page you had originally gotten the link from. This can help you find the right person to reach out to in order to restore the link.

In SEO there is a distinction between links and backlinks, which can result in confusion.

A backlink is a link that you have gotten from any domain. This means that you can have any number of backlinks from the same website.

A Link on the other hand refers to a link coming from a unique domain. This means that you can only have one link from each website.

If you for example have a blog, that links to you in a total of 5 time over any number of articles, this would count as 5 backlinks, but only as 1 link, because all of the backlinks originate from the same domain.

Morningscore stores your data from previous scans. This means you can view what links you have gained and lost since the first time you scanned your website.

You can change the interval Morningscore shows data for, by clicking on the calendar in the top right corner. Here you can change what interval of time Morningscore shows your data for. You can either choose one of the predetermined intervals or create a custom one by selecting a start date in the calendar.

When you have gained or lost a link, you can see what page the link originates from by clicking on the arrow next to the link. This will open a drop down menu, showing you details about the specific link. This drop down menu will show you the page the link originated from, and other information.

Morningscore also includes more information about your links, like what page it leads to and whether the link is a nofollow link. You can find this information by going to the "All links" tab, and clicking on the link you want to see the information of.

Start by making sure that you have successfully scanned for new links, by clicking the button in Morningscore. If you have done a scan without any issues, then please continue reading.

Morningscore distinguishes between backlinks and links, and this is also the case when it comes to our new/lost link monitor. If you have completed a successful scan of a link without any errors, the most likely reason your link hasn't shown up as a new link, is that you already have the link.

If you already have a link from the same domain it will no be counted as an unique link, but instead as a backlink, which doesn't show up on the "New links" tab. You can still check if your backlink has been registered by going to the "All links" tab and searching for it.

When you look at a link in Morningscore you will see a purple bar with a number. This represents the value of the domain you have gotten the value from (Please note that each individual link have their own value, which can be seen by pressing the arrow next to the link).

Our "value" metric is based off of the page's authority. Authority is a metric used by Google, but a site's authority is not public, which means our "value" metric is an estimation. Morningscore estimates a website's authority, by looking at the number of links leading to the page compared to the number of links leading from the page.

Sometimes links will be marked as nofollow. This means the page, the link originates from has decided to mark the link as nofollow, which limits the amount of value it will attribute to the page it leads to. It is important to note that, while Google says nofollow links do not provide any value, they have still been shown to provide some value as far as SEO goes.

This means that while dofollow (links without a nofollow tag) are of course much better than nofollow links, nofollow links still do provide some value.
